Seeking Balance
How do we meet ourselves in the middle—our past selves who said yes to everything in pursuit of our larger-than-life dreams and our current selves who have found the value in saying no, in slowing down, in the so-small-we-almost-miss-them moments that we’re just now learning to appreciate? How do we experience the fullness of connection and community by going to events, parties, meetings, dinners without sacrificing the peace, the serenity that we’ve created inside and all around ourselves?
How do we do it all without doing it all?
I don’t know. I don’t know, but I’d really like to. I want to figure out how to maintain brand relationships and support the ones that support me in return without agreeing to three events in one day. I want to seize opportunities in front of me without neglecting the people standing behind me and holding me up. I want to give myself the same love, energy, and compassion that I readily give to my work, my family, my friends.
I want to do it all, but I also want to be able to recognize when “all” is too much, when “more” is not worth it, when everything that I have is better than what I’m searching for.
